In this presentation, Dr James McGregor, Professor of Clinical Ob/Gyn at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine, will address the importance of taking a proactive approach to bacterial vaginosis (also known as “BV”) and trichomoniasis.
Too many women and their health care providers fail to appreciate the significance of these two conditions. The obvious signs and symptoms of BV and trichomoniasis are often played down as “nuisance” complaints. However, the evidence shows that BV and trichomoniasis must be taken seriously as a health risk. Recent advances in diagnostic technology allow clinicians to quickly and conveniently screen patients for bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis, make a prompt and accurate diagnosis, and initiate appropriate treatment without delay.

Part 2 - Operative Hysteroscopy - This video tutorial will demonstrate the fundamentals including setup and equipment needed to perform office hysteroscopy, the technique of diagnostic hysteroscopy including fluid delivery options and camera orientation inside the uterine cavity and setup, equipment, and technique required to perform operative hysteroscopies, such as polyp or IUD removal.
Part 1 - Office Hysteroscopy - In this video tutorial we instruct on the setup, equipment and management of office hysteroscopy. The minimal use of anesthesia and the improvements in therapeutic and diagnostic qualities of office hysteroscopy makes it use an attractive alternative to the operating room for both the gynecologic practice and their patients in terms of reduced time and cost efficiencies.
